GPS 10 MHz module:
The Alpermann+Velte Rubidium series “GPS 10MHz” module is an extremely stable way of universally acquiring a real time base for a Time Code or timer system, e.g. our GT module. The precisely acquired reference time, date and seconds pulse is transferred from the GPS 10 MHz modules in form of a serial protocol to the generator as a reference time.
The module needs a RUB housing and power supply to function as well as one of the seperat available antennas. The module is “plug and play” compatible for most normal real time acquiring systems. For user specific setups, an initial setup requires the use of our supplied software and a windows PC with a serial and/or Ethernet port(only possible if your have an IE module).
The module also has two 10 MHz outputs, that most often used for synchronisation of a third party “SPG” systems. Automatic DST calculation for all time zones is available via the supplied software.
The GPS 10MHz offers a variety of monitoring and control possibilities, and is therefore designed for the implementation into complex and fail-proof redundant systems.
The GPS antenna combines a planar antenna and a frequency converter, which translates the high-frequency phasemodulated signal of the GPS system to an intermediate frequency. This way a standard coaxial cable (e.g. RG58) can be used for the connection with the GPS clock and a distance of up to 300 meters (with RG58) or even 600 meters (with a low-loss cable type like RG213) between receiver and antenna is possible without requiring an additional amplifier.
The 10MHz signal is located on an intermediate frequency level and is thereby stable and available very quickly. Antenna over voltage protection and fiber-optic cable connections are optionally available.
The „GPS 10 MHz“- module has the following outputs:
- Two serial interfaces for the output of the time information
- Seconds pulse with seconds pulse-telegram
- Four programable GPI's
-
Two 10 MHz-signals (a third output is optionally available)
All information can be sent or received via the internal interface „TC_link „. Configuration, software updates and status inquiries and exchange of information between modules such as generators, signal drivers and Ethernet use this specially designed interface. Via the “IE” Ethernet module, a NTP server as well as SNMP monitoring functions are possible. GPS supplies the real time along with the global positioning information. For example, a UMID (Unique material Identifier) could be generated out of this available data.
If the GPS receiver is switched off, the last valid almanac and ephemeris data is buffered into memory and the time is switched to a "free run" mode using an internal Quartz. After again switching on the GPS, a longer period of time will be required before a stable time can be acquired. In order to avoid this disadvantage, the GPS receiver has a separate back-up “Spannungseingang”.
Various degrees of precision are possible by implementing the various available quartz's:
Two „GPS 10 MHz“- modules connected to our RUB “SR” change-over module offer a time, date and 10 MHz fail-proof redundant system.
